After being collected from
your accommodation in Kununurra, you will
be taken on a 45 minute drive through the
Ord irrigation area and down onto Carlton
Hill Station to Macka's Barra Camp.
Tea and coffee is served prior to boarding the boats with full amenities available at the camp. A full day is then spent fishing the Lower Ord River tidal reaches travelling up to 100kms on the water to fish for that big barra! Enjoy a variety of fishing options and be amazed by the diverse bird and wildlife with something new around every corner. Experience a scenic tour like no other!

Travel to the mouth of the mighty Ord River where it meets the spectacular rugged expanse of the Cambridge Gulf. Cover up to 250kms on the water and enjoy the tranquility and isolation of this rarely fished unspoilt region.
This tour seeks out big barra and other estuarine species including Threadfin Salmon, Mulloway and Fingermark. Spend your day venturing downstream fishing coastal creeks and the Fossil Islands flats adjacent to the mouth. Marvel at the unforgettable and ever-changing Kimberley scenery and the vast array of bird life.

This is the ideal tour for those on a budget, short on time or who just want to experience barra fishing. Fish in comfort from one of our NEW 6.4 m custom made vessels leaving from Macka's Barra Camp.

morning or afternoon tour, fully guided and with everything supplied.

We provide pick up and return from your Kununurra accommodation at the

New for 2009 is Macka's half day Scenic Wildlife Tour, perfect for those wanting to discover the extraordinary beauty and majesty of this outback spectacle. Millions of years in the making, the land and wildlife has the power to inspire you revive you. Whether you're into nature tours, wildlife photography or landscape of cinematic scale, this tour is for you.
Downstream from Macka's camp spot majestic jabirus, prehistoric crocs and ancient boab trees. Admire the magical surrounds of the river and landscape and see why this area was recently transformed for the movie epic 'Australia'. Benefit from Macka's many years on the river as he shares his intimate knowledge of how many the waterway, animal and birdlife interact. Travel in comfort and safety and appreciate the personal feel of this tour with a maximum of only 5 passengers.

Staying overnight at Macka's whether it be for one night or several, gives you the opportunity to let the majestic scenery of the area seep in. Located high on a picturesque bend of the river with sweeping vistas downstream, the camp is superbly comfortable - boasting 240v power, flushing toilets, hot water, fridges, freezers, coolroom, ice machine, dishwasher, washing machine, new king single beds, overhead fans throughout recently refurbished bungalows and open air dining with in house cook.
'During the months Macka and his staff conduct the wet season run-off tours with build up trips generally operating between September and November. These are fully customised and totally personalised groups for between 10 and 12 anglers.

Charged on a daily boat rate and includes one day/one night
- 2 pax - $1100 pp per day/night
- 3 pax - $900 pp per day/night
- 4 pax - $800 pp per day/night
These prices are all inclusive - transfers between Kununurra and the camp, all meals, accommodation, fishing equipment and guiding. Flights to and from Kununurra and alcohol are not included.

All overnight tours require a deposit of the cost of one day to confirm the booking. Balance to be paid one week prior to arrival. |

Due to the high running costs and wet season logistics, no monies will be refunded on cancellation of a booking unless the dates are filled by other clients. |

Macka's Barra Camp is located on the banks of the lower Ord River on Carlton Hill Station, approximately 55 kms from the townsite of Kununurra. It is a purpose built fishing camp with all amenities and some!
Bungalows now fully screened with new floors and king single beds throughout.
